25/4/2015 - Dinner... and Dance!

Since it was already our last evening in Bangkok, we figured it was only right to have one last round of authentic Thai food as dinner.. which was held at Som Tam Nua, a highly reviewed restaurant that is always filled with tourists and locals alike.

In my opinion, Som Tam Nua serves pretty good food which are priced reasonably.. Their signature dish is Som Tam - a type of Thai's papaya salad which makes you feel like having more after more.

The fried chicken was great as well. We ordered another basket after finishing our initial two baskets. hehe. Too tempting to decline for personal diet plans.

After dinner, it was groceries shopping time at Big C with Yi Mei, Py and Simon (the rest of the guys went home and shower.. to get ready for after-dinner activity. tsk!)

My first tuk-tuk experience in Bangkok. hehehe!

After getting back to hotel, showered and dressed up, it was officially time to partyyyyyyy!! The recommendation made by Jason to visit Maggie Choo's Bar was definitely a superb one, for Maggie Choo's distinctive underground atmosphere made it such a special place to visit.

Cheeeeeersss!!

That night, we had so much fun drinking and drinking it really reminded me of the song "We Are Young".. LOL. Here are the happy faces upon returning to hotel.

Still jumping and pumping... til the very last drop of energy was sucked out of us. We collapsed.

Made new friends, shopped a lot, ate a lot. That pretty much summed up my first Bangkok visit.. Till I come back again! tata!

25/4/2015 - After You Dessert

Even before I left for Bangkok, my colleague in Singapore had already reminded me numerous times about this must-go cafe called After You Dessert. So right after a relaxing full body massage (trust me we needed it so much after spending one whole morning at Chatuchak), when they made me choose between shopping and After You.. I decided to go with After You (surprise surprise!), and I simply did NOT regret my decision.

Even though most of the reviews online strongly recommend the Shibuya Honey Toast, I personally prefer the Nutella Toast simply because... it was damn. very. freaking. nice. In fact I think that was the best toast I've had in my entire life thus far. No joke.

Officially my die-die-must-eat in Bangkok now lol.

Of course, since we went there in a group, we also tried on some other stuffs like the banana pancake and the signature Shibuya Honey Toast which tasted fine as well. but if you ask me to pick just one out of the three, I'd still put the Nutella Toast on top of my recommended list.

I know it sounds ironic that the place which I highly recommend in Bangkok do not serve authentic Thai food, but it is only a pity if one do not get to try it especially when one is already there. I'm so coming back for more!!

25/4/2015 - Chatuchak Market

Third day in Bangkok started off with a walk around the Chatuchak Weekend Market, which is famous for being the largest market in Thailand with more than 8,000 booths selling goods from every part of Thailand. After having our breakfast, I was glad that my friend YiMei came to join us for the morning walk even though she was there on a business trip. teeheee.

What impressed me was really her ability to find us even though Chatuchak Market was sooooo big with 27 different sections all together. lol. Nevertheless, I was glad to have her joining the gang!

Even though they say Chatuchak Market has a lot of things to shop for, I recall getting just a few tops and souvenirs for my friends at home. Of course, while wandering around the market, we also tried some of the local food there.

That's how much they appreciated the coconut ice cream when it was all hot and sunny under the bright sun. tsk tsk. What followed after our hours of walk in the market was a full body massage in the city (no pictures taken, of course) which made everybody went hooo and haaaaa thereafter. Holiday oh holiday. I love holiday so much it is beginning to become one of the very purpose I live on earth now!

24/4/2015 - Baiyoke Sky Rooftop Bar

24 April was a very special day. After having a walk at Chinatown, we went back to our hotel room to freshen up a bit only to get ready for another round of "glittering night" at Baiyoke Sky Rooftop Bar.

Located on the 83rd floor of the hotel, the rooftop bar is Bangkok's tallest and most scenic bar available. As usual, upon arrival.. we were all busy snapping photos here and there..

Once everybody settled down and started sipping on our drinks, suddenly the DJ played a few songs which, according to Simon were his love songs with PY. He asked for a toast with everyone to his four years of relationship with PY so we just went ahead and "cheeeeeerrrsss!". Next thing we knew, Simon surprised everyone with his secret plan - the Proposal!! He knelt down, took out a diamond rock from his pocket and proposed to PY. Everyone was soooooo surprised yet happy for the love birds.

Such an unforgettable evening. From high school to working adults, I've known this lovely girl for about a decade now. As a friend and as a sister, I'm really happy she's found the love of her life. Congratulations Simon for getting this beautiful gem as your wifey. I sincerely wish you both a married life (soon) that is filled with endless love and happiness! Cheeeerrsss!!

24/4/2015 - Chinatown

After spending the entire evening shopping away, the whole group of us met up again in Chinatown for dinner. According to py, Chinatown in Bangkok is famous for their cheap and nice seafood. So there we go, seafood in Chinatown!!

The lovebirds. I must say the seafood there was pretty good, given the price. Only downside was that it was superrrr crowded, and since it was drizzling while we were there, we struggled having to have our dinner under just two big umbrellas. Nevertheless, we enjoyed ourselves!

After dinner was a quick walk along the street (with the "SoLong" couple), while the rest of them preferred to return to hotel and shower.

If there's another must-eat which Chinatown is famous for, that would be their shark fins and bird nest! As we walked along the street, Py, Simon and myself.. we stopped by a shop that sells nothing but just shark fins and bird nest. Figured since we were already there, might as well give it a try..

Pure bird nest and boiling shark fins in a pot. Don't they look good?

I can't thank her enough for bringing me along this trip. I had nothing to worry about, nothing to plan for. All I had to do was to tag along, and enjoy. teeheeee! blissful.
