24/4/2015 - Chinatown

After spending the entire evening shopping away, the whole group of us met up again in Chinatown for dinner. According to py, Chinatown in Bangkok is famous for their cheap and nice seafood. So there we go, seafood in Chinatown!!

The lovebirds. I must say the seafood there was pretty good, given the price. Only downside was that it was superrrr crowded, and since it was drizzling while we were there, we struggled having to have our dinner under just two big umbrellas. Nevertheless, we enjoyed ourselves!

After dinner was a quick walk along the street (with the "SoLong" couple), while the rest of them preferred to return to hotel and shower.

If there's another must-eat which Chinatown is famous for, that would be their shark fins and bird nest! As we walked along the street, Py, Simon and myself.. we stopped by a shop that sells nothing but just shark fins and bird nest. Figured since we were already there, might as well give it a try..

Pure bird nest and boiling shark fins in a pot. Don't they look good?

I can't thank her enough for bringing me along this trip. I had nothing to worry about, nothing to plan for. All I had to do was to tag along, and enjoy. teeheeee! blissful.

24/4/2015 - Cafes All the Way

Before I carry on blogging about how my second day in Bangkok went, let me first show you a picture of the view from my humble hotel room.

Right between those tall buildings were little street markets selling lots and lots of cheap apparels and bags.. somewhat like Petaling Street in KL.

Second day was more of a free and easy day for everyone. While PY and Simon opted to visit the zoo (which is totally not my thing to do for a holiday), I decided to join the rest of them for some good food in Sukhumvit.

The first cafe which we hopped into was Gram cafe - one which sells quality western brunch at Soi 49.

Gram cafe is located in a very nice and quiet area, with cozy outdoor seating. We took quite some time to decide what to have for brunch that day because everything in the menu seemed to be really tempting for us. Literally.

While waiting for our food to be served, we took turns to checkout the area.

teeheeeee. and when the food were finally served, all the five of us hurried to our table, and... started snapping photos of our food from every possible angle. bloggers being bloggers. LOL!

I hope I picked up a thing or two from them on how to snap quality pictures from this trip. hahaha!

Presenting to you, our lovely brunch at Gram Cafe!

Looks really good, don't they? To be fair, I personally find the food there very palatable too. Proves that the review online are really unbiased. tsk tsk.

That's me and my set of food. Following our brunch was another round of bonding session in the vicinity.

New friends, new type of fun. Thank God for their sense of humour. I had a good time laughing throughout this trip.

One thing about hanging out with bloggers is, they never get bored of cafes. According to Jason, there's another nice cafe within walking distance from where we were that was worth checking out. So off we went, walking hand in hand (not forgetting to snap photos along the way...)

to our next destination - the Casa Lapin Cafe.

The last two photos are credits to Jason's photography. You know with my photography skill, I could never go that far lol...

Anyway, I was pretty bloated by the time I was done with Gram so I didn't really try the coffee or food in Casa Lapin. Heard that they were pretty good too.

While the guys were still all hyper about visiting a third cafe, I decided to go on a separate shopping mission instead. Three cafes in a row? Seriously that's too much for me hahaha. With some guide from Xiang, I went on a solo trip to Terminal 21, Central World and Platinum Mall - all in one evening. That's the beauty of a free and easy trip, ain't it? We all get to do what we want =)

23/4/2015 - Asiatique

Right after having lunch at Taling Pling Restaurant, we girls bade the guys goodbye for shopping spreeeeeeee! Well, since there wasn't much time left that evening, PY brought Quince and I to where she thought was a must-shop-place in Bangkok - the Platinum Fashion Mall.

Indeed, Platinum was a great place to splurge all our money on.. as it offers a great variety of apparels and accessories that are reasonably priced. From children's wear to evening dresses, adolescent clothing, lady's fashion, undergarments, shoes, bags, hats and other accessories - Platinum has it all. After spending a couple of hours in the mall.... we ladies decided that we need to squeeze more time and come back (again!) the next day. lol.

From the Platinum Fashion Mall, we walked pass Central World (another one of their attractive malls)..

to meet the guys who were spending time at Siam Center.

so that we could visit our next destination, Asiatique The Riverfront together!

Say Hi to my new friends! From left to right: Jason, Xiang, myself, Simon (behind me), PY (a.k.a Jessy), Quince and Baldwin. Bunch of vibrant, friendly and funny bloggers from Malaysia.

Asiatique is basically an open-air, night bazaar that is filled with numerous boutiques and restaurants by the river. Things that were sold at Asiatique were slightly more pricey compared to those in the Platinum Fashion Mall, but well, ambiance wise.. Asiatique's definitely cleaner and more spacious, I would say..

Guys drinking the Chang Classic Beer.

Girls posing with the guys' beer. tsk tsk.

Despite the long day travelling from Boon Lay to Changi, from Changi to Don Muang and from Don Muang to the Bangkok city, I was still pretty energetic that evening partly because of all these energetic young people whom I had the opportunity to mingle around with. Meeting new people makes me feel good all the time. teeheee!

23/04/2015 - First Meal in Bangkok

With all these studying and business travelling going on, blogging is starting to seem like a demanding thing to do nowadays lol! but I guess it's always better late than never, isn't it? so here I am, squeezing time right after I returned from Ipoh to blog about a trip that took place exactly one month ago in.. Bangkok!

Whenever I told anybody that I had not been to Bangkok before, I never failed to get this "are you kidding me?" expression in return. So I thought, it was probably time to go explore this widely claimed sprawling metropolis to find out why.

Being me, I could just join py in this trip with her friends who were all strangers to me at first. Well.... I guess it's not too hard to blend in especially when everyone was in for an enjoyable trip right? So there I was, in Bangkok.. with the Malaysian Chagang!

After meeting these cool people in person at Don Mueang Airport (thank God they are fun!), we quickly checked in our hotel and rushed out for our very first, authentic Thai foooood!

Place: Taling Pling Restaurant, Central World
Rate: 7/10

Food was good, price was reasonable. It was certainly a great start to our Bangkok trip.

Stay tuned for more updates! =)
